The Chancel Choir at First Congregational United Church of Christ is an active committee of adult learners in service to Christ. The ensemble rehearses on Wednesday evenings and participates in the Sunday morning worship service. In addition, the choir performs at many special services throughout the year. The Chancel Choir presents a major choral work with a chamber orchestra during Advent and in April each year. Annually, the Chancel Choir collaborates with a brass ensemble on all major festival Sundays.
The Chancel Choir has actively pursued commissioned works with many of the leading choral composers in the United States. Commissioned composers have included Eric Barnum, David Cherwein, Dale Grotenhuis, John Ferguson, James Fritschel, Kenneth Jennings, Lloyd Larson and Dan Forrest. In 2016, Chancel Choir commissioned Matthew Culloton to write for the ensemble.
The Chancel Choir has recorded two CDs for sale to the public: "Bound For The Promised Land" and "Lord, You Have Been Our Dwelling Place." They can be purchased through the church office, 715-834-2668.
The First Congregational UCC Youth Choir is a place where children can experience and explore God's word through music. The choir practices on Sunday mornings from 11:15 until noon. Children in choir grow in their knowledge of music as well as in their faith through discussions and learning activities.
Youth Choir is open to children in kindergarten through eighth grade. The choir participates in a Christmas pageant in December and a spring musical. High school students are offered special music opportunities throughout the year as well.
